Agarwood is a resinous wood formed in trees of the genera Aquilaria and Gyrinops in response to wounding. Agarwood is used for cultural, religious and medicinal purposes. It is the most expensive wood in the world. Agarwood species are now endangered, but fortunately agarwood trees can easily be cultivated and patented technology used to induce the production of the valuable resinous wood.
